Unexpected Dev-elopments (Apocalypse Gates Author's Cut Book 7)
Alvin was happy to finally give Gothy one of the things she’d been begging for all along— a plane— so he was understandably upset when it died in its first, short-lived flight as they helped the Red River Army Depot fend off a horde of zombies from Dallas.
Gothy was happy to get a replacement for the plane, however, and the armored vehicle sporting a BIG gun pleased Alvin as well. With the Bradley Fighting Vehicle in their possession, he couldn’t help but wonder what could possibly be a real challenge in the future.
Alvin made the decision that they would all take a few days to learn what the Bradley was capable of before they ventured further east. Its Bushmaster gun delivered a hell of a kick to anything with armor, though Alvin wondered how they could acquire TOW missiles or high-explosive ammunition to boost their damage even more.
After Alvin and his group wiped a miniboss out without so much as breaking a sweat, Alvin should have been expecting more changes to the game he now inhabited. After all, he seemed to be a nexus of Dev-elopements as the game went on.
(This book contains adult situations, in all their horror and glory, including but not limited to: sex, abuse, drug use, and murder. It also contains graphic sex scenes, which portray elements of BDSM and harem. You’ve been warned.)
My Opinion: 479 pages, $4.99, Available On Kindle Unlimited
Full disclosure: I received an advanced copy for review but purchased a copy when it became available.
*Like normal, this novel has adult sex scenes. It's less than 10% of the story and they are their own chapters making it skippable.*
A delightful action oriented edition of this slice of life RPG apocalypse series. While the main character and his group go to an awful lot of places there are few travelogues scenes. Instead, the group uses the fast travel system to pop into familiar areas to troubleshoot and update the reader of those groups. There are still new groups contacted and even some new people (fan requested?) to add to the group so it's not all old familiar faces. But the action is definitely kicked up a notch no matter where the group heads to and there are hints of new powerful individuals heading into the game which should spice up future novels.
Score: 7.8 out of 10
Unexpected Dev-elopments (Apocalypse Gates Author's Cut Book 7)
Dross Brings the Bones: Adversary Volume I: A LitRPG Series
I’m in the game.
I don’t know how I got here, but I know I have a purpose.
From what I understand, you’re going to try to stop me.
If I were you, I would do the same thing.
Because I am coming for you.
And I'm going to kill you.
My Opinion: 320 pages, $4.99, Available On Kindle Unlimited
The opening chapter is not written well. The short choppy sections, the 1st person present tense that seems to break the fourth wall, and the poorly formatted game notifications all made me want to put the novel down. But if you get past that the writing gets better and the story gets pretty good.
The story becomes a slice of life survival and action adventure tale. With the early part of the story focusing on the main character (MC) trying to get the resources he needs just to live and fight in this harsh world where he starts with nothing and another entity is sending people to kill him. It's a surprisingly rough start for the MC. It continues on this path of quests that slowly reveal the big twist in the story but keep up the action and even a few interesting puzzles as the MC adventures.
On the game mechanic side of things you can see the author's familiarity with tabletop RPGs and the story often felt like there was a DM throwing challenges at the MC. The game mechanics are heavily inspired by DnD 5e. The abilities and powers will be familiar to anyone whose used that system with HP tracking modified slightly. There are plenty of stats and notifications. Though the formatting for the notifications was not done well and would have come across better if they were left justified instead of centered. One issue I had with them in particular was how the author tracked XP was that it was updated by total after a quest but it didn't say that's what it was doing. So for most of the story it seemed like the MC was getting massive amounts of XP after each quest was finished and it wasn't being tracked properly.
Overall, once you get past the rough start the story is interesting and by the end the story has developed enough plot for you want to read a 2nd book.
Score: 7.6 out of 10
Dross Brings the Bones: Adversary Volume I: A LitRPG Series
Hung Ogre (Caverns and Creatures)
Once again our heroes awaken to find themselves drunkenly unaware of the previous night's events and how they came to get into their current predicament.
But no amount of Diplomacy is going to save them against the appetite of the hung and hungry ogre who has captured them.
With nothing but their wits to aid them, will the C&C gang be able to escape being boiled alive?
My Opinion: 30 pages (?), $2.99, Available on Kindle Unlimited
Another entertaining and inappropriate side story with the Caverns and Creature’s crew. There are an unusual number of penis jokes in this one but has the humor you should be used to if you’ve read anything by the author.
Score: 7.4 out of 10

Large numbers of monsters come out the gate which is the boundary of the world. After many sacrifices, People won the fight against monsters through their awakening. Jin Taekyung is alive as an 'F class hunter' which is the lowest level. After Jin has a hard time, he gets an old capsule then he goes into the capsule that is the martial heroes' world. And the game system gives him special abilities, he starts growing up to become the best martial hero.
My Opinion: 41+ Chapters, FREE, No English Publisher
A good webcomic if you’re in the mood for something that takes place in the martial arts past. The main character gets a game console and is sent back thousands of years to the past in the body of a reprobate noble. He’s trapped there until he meets certain game requirements so he trains and becomes powerful using the RPG system only to be drawn into the game world’s war. Lots of fighting, some interesting martial arts stuff, and lots of game notifications and mandatory quests. The MC eventually returns to the real world (like chapter 39) and there are interesting cross overs from the game that come about.
The art is really good with full color panels, good expressions that convey emotions and humor, nice backgrounds and since it’s historical even the architecture and clothing matches the period.
Overall an entertaining read if you’re in the mood for a historic setting that’s a bit different.
Score: 7.5 out of 10
