LitRPG News
A listener of the show recommended a D&D Web-series called 1 for All created by Deerstalker Pictures. It’s fun. You follow the antics of a group of D&D players with both their characters and the real world players. Fun meta gaming stuff that is totally LitRPG. It’s something you can enjoy when those conversations with relatives start to get tedious.

War Aeternus 5: End of the Faithful
Lee has barely established his foothold in the kingdom of Birnefeld, and yet enemy forces are already rushing to attack. Almost all of the other Heralds have been stamped out of existence by the anti-religious zealot King Ramen, and now that the ruthless rule of the empire has turned his sights toward the newly conquered realm, and started marching a massive army easily capable of crushing the entire kingdom beneath their feet straight toward Lee's doorstep. With no other choice, Lee has to turn to the nemesis who plagued his dreams, the Mistress of Shadows, for help. Now, with everything on the line, Lee has to race against the clock to gather the last remaining world stones and finally finish the gods’ cruel game and close out the final chapter of War Aeternus before King Ramen puts an end to the faithful.
This Gamelit Litrpg fantasy novel was written by Charles Dean, author of the Bathrobe Knight series, the Merchant of Tiqpa series and the Heroic Villain series as well.
My Opinion: 409 pages, $3.99, Available On Kindle Unlimited
Full disclosure: I did some minor beta reading for the book. I purchased a copy of the novel when it became available.
Awww. The end of an actual LitRPG series. It’s such a rare event that a series actually has a proper ending and isn’t just abandoned that it’s special in its own way. Beyond that, it's actually a good ending too. With the exception of a few minor things, there is good resolution for all the series plotlines, and a very satisfying ending telling you how everyone ends up. The story continues to have the good action adventure and emotional development it’s been known for. Don’t be surprised if not everyone makes it through to the end unscathed. Good stuff.
Score: 7.5 out of 10

The Wastes (Underdog Book #2): LitRPG Series
Eric has survived where people much stronger than him have found their deaths. And not just that: he's managed to activate his magic supply, tame one of the most dangerous dungeon monsters, find the ancient city of monster hunters and rescue Jay, the girl abandoned by the scouts in Gulper's lair.
He left the Dungeons of the Crooked Mountains behind him. Now his path leads him to Orchus where our freshly-minted mage intends to finally free himself of his debt-repayment oath.
But as soon as Eric and Jay descend into the valley, they discover that the local barons have been attacked by young Corwin's men who have swept through their neighbors' estates, pillaging and plundering.
This makes Eric's task all the more difficult: he has to return to his home city without ending up in his enemies' clutches. You'd think his natural cautiousness and the acute instincts of his pet Gorgie would make this journey a walk in the park - but fickle Lady Luck has her own ideas... Once again Eric is being pulled into a bloody vortex of dangers.
My Opinion: 447 pages, $6.99, Not Available On Kindle Unlimited
Full disclosure: I received an advanced copy for review. I purchased a copy when it became available.
This is a perfectly fine sequel in the series. There’s some solid slice of life adventuring and action fights. All the game mechanics from the first book exist here and the main character (MC) continues to exploit his unique flaw to gain power. But on the whole, it’s not quite as interesting as book 1. It’s still a fine story, but the freshness of this new world and the social circumstances surrounding the MC just aren’t new anymore and besides gaining a new ally, nothing really new or spectacular happens in the story. Just some good solid slice of life action adventure.
Score: 7.4 out of 10
The Wastes (Underdog Book #2): LitRPG Series https://amzn.to/2O0JzE7
World's Strongest Farmer
Raverek wants nothing more than to be a farmer like his dad; tend the fields, harvest the crops, and kill the occasional monster who breaks through the fog wall that borders his home.
However, getting what he wants isn't so easy when everyone's job class is designated by the gods and they have plans for the would-be farmer.
A pestilence that hasn't been seen for two hundred years has discovered a way to pierce the fog wall and the world is going to need a hero. Will Raverek take up the fabled Hero job class and leave everything he loves willingly or will the gods need to get creative? How is a farmer supposed to save the world?
A litRPG adventure where job classes are everything. Level up your job class and evolve it into something stronger!
My Opinion: 204 pages, $3.99, Available On Kindle Unlimited
A very action oriented LitRPG story where a young man loses his father to a monster army and to honor him, takes the same class Farmer. Only the kid is not content to be powerless but seeks to gain power enough to get rescue his dad from the deadly monsters.
The story is mostly slice of life with the main character heading to train, learn about magic, ki, and fights monsters. Good regular fights are a big draw for the story.
Game mechanic wise, there are regular character sheets with levels, stats, blessings with bonuses. The big new thing is the ability to class change to stake unique skills, spells, and abilities. The story shifts to more of a ki based system as the MC uses that in most fights, though that may change in future stories.
Overall, a good read if you’re in the mood for something with a good bit of action adventure.
Score: 7.3 out of 10
That’s it everyone! Have a happy Holidays.
