Geek News
We begin with…
WhatsApp banned in Brazil...again
Tuesday a judge in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro state ordered WhatsApp blocked for failing to turn over data in a criminal case. WhatsApp insists it does not have the data because of how its encryption works.
Hours later the chief justice of Brazil's supreme court Ricardo Lewandowski overturned the decision saying the ban “apparently violates the fundamental right of freedom of expression and communication."
This is the third time WhatsApp has been banned and had the ban overturned on appeal. Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes said the government is drafting a bill regulating judicial access to digital data in criminal investigations.

Kickass Torrents Down for good?
This week Federal authorities announced the arrest of the alleged founder and operator of Kickass Torrents Ukrainian Artem Vaulin in Poland. Vaulin is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement, one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, and two counts of criminal copyright infringement and awaits extradition. Vaulin is accused of not responding to DMCA takedown requests. Agents posed as ad buyers to discover a bank account in Estonia. Those records were used to discover that the site was hosted out of Chicago for 3 and a half years, ending in January 2016, which is why it is being pursed by the US Department of Justice.
Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones quits Twitter over racists abuse
This week Leslie Jones, star of the rebooted Ghostbusters film, quit Twitter after receiving a flood of abusive tweets from people that were not pleased that women were the main characters in the new Ghostbusters movie.
The 48-year-old says she has been sent tweets blaming her for Aids and comparing her to a gorilla.
The actress has accused the site of not doing enough to deal with online trolls and is taking a "break" from it.
Twitter has admitted "a lot of work" is needed to improve how it handles the problem. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/36832275/ghostbusters-star-leslie-jones-hits-back-at-crazy-and-sick-racist-abuse
Pokedates will help you catch The One
There is now a Pokémon GO-focused dating service called Pokédates. It works like this: You enter some basic info about yourself, and you tell the site what times are your prime Pokémon hunting hours. Then the site pairs you up with another player, giving you a time and place (near a PokéStop or a gym, obviously).
Sign-up is free and so is your first PokéDate (using promo code “POKEDATES2016”), but subsequent meetings will run you $20 each.

Live Action Futurama Fan Film
(Play Video 2)
The good folks at Fan O Rama have produced one of the creepiest and coolest fan films ever. Based on the popular animated show Futurama, these folks have recreated in erie detail the cast of the show using prosthetics, makeup, costumes, and a little CGI. Since the show’s been canceled for a while now this may be the last new story we get to see these beloved characters in.
