Geek News

We begin with…

Elon Musk..futurist or Crackpot?

During an interview at The Code Conference, Elon Musk made some interesting statements that some have labeled as kinda crazy.

  • Musk predicts the first humans will travel to Mars eight years from now, arriving on the red planet by 2025.

Musk founded SpaceX in 2002, with a goal of "enabling people to live on other planets," according to a description on the space tech company's website. In April, SpaceX announced the first unmanned mission to Mars would launch in two years using the company's Falcon Heavy rocket.

  • Is life a video game played by a more advanced civilization? Elon thinks it may be.

  • Musk thinks A.I. could turn us into house cats.

Elon’s solution is to make us part computer. Specifically, Neural lace. It's a mesh that fits on your brain to gives it digital computing capabilities. It also can be injected by syringe, which means a person wouldn't need surgery to implant a neural lace. According to Gizmodo, a prototype was revealed last year.

Netflix has given a 10-episode order to G.L.O.W., a comedy-series executive produced by Orange Is the New Black creator/executive producer Jenji Kohan and Orange co-executive producer Tara Herrmann.

The Division, the movie

(Play video 3)

Variety reported this week that Jake Gyllenhaal is attached to star in and produce a movie based on The Division, a third-person, cover-based shooter that has become a massive hit for publisher Ubisoft, making an estimated $330 million.

The story behind The Division has all the makings of an action thriller. A virus with a 95 percent mortality rate is introduced into the middle of New York City on Black Friday via infected money.
