Today Oculus premiered their original VR short Henry. This is the first in a series of virtual reality films the company plans to release.
Henry follows the tale of a hedgehog, starting out with an interior view of his house that you’re obviously immersed within. It’s Henry’s birthday, but he’s lonely, so he wishes for friends, which kicks off the plot of the picture.
According to Road To VR, who was at the premiere there was a definite sense of immersion as you looked around the world of Henry. The main character would make eye contact with you the viewer during critical or interesting plot scenes creating a unique connection with the character.
If Henry is an indication of what's to come, Oculus has a great opportunity to create a new way to tell a story. We look forward to more virtual reality film.
