At the re/code conference Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe said that the soon-to-be-available virtual reality Oculus headset and the computer needed to run it will cost “in the $1,500 range.”
This includes the cost of the computer if you were to buy a new one. The official recommended specs to run the Oculus headset have been released
· NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
· Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
· 8GB+ RAM
· Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
· 2x USB 3.0 ports
· Windows 7 SP1 or newer
Plenty of sites have approximated the cost of this type of computer if bought new, about $1100. That means the Oculus headset will cost around $400 which matches what the 2nd generation developer kit ($350) from them costs.
