Michael Scott Earle did not win his court case against Amazon so he will not be returning to that platform to publish. Instead, he’s decided to sell his novels directly to his fans and even start a kickstarter to fund future works with lots of great stretch goals.

In only a couple days, the response to MSE putting his works back up for sale have been astounding with many fans buying everything that’s available all at once.

Michael Chatfield announced this week that he’s been working on not only new books for everyone but an actual RPG game. It’s still in the works it has a tentative release date of 2020.

Dark Envoy is a non-linear RPG inspired by the likes of the Divinity series, XCOM and Dragon Age to offer free world exploration with an emphasis on tactical combat layered with lore and strategy.

The LitRPG Podcast was at DragonCon this year and we not only visited plenty of vendors and our fellow LitRPG author’s groups, but also some of the panels they were on. It was soo fun to meet so many great authors, narrators, and fans. We recorded some of the panels as well as our travels around the con and all the amazing cosplay including some by our own narrators and fans.

I had a nice opportunity this past weekend to chat with the venerable Vasily Mahanenko, author of the Way of the Shaman series, Galactagon, and the Dark Paladin series. We talk about his new book Second Chance: Invasion book 1, where it takes place in the Barliona universe, and he even spills some secrets about the upcoming stories and this was cool, even talks about who that 2nd Tiefling in the story really is. We also talk about what it’s like to be a parent and have to balance writing with family life, his experience helping American LitRPG authors translate and publish their works in Russia, and his plans for future projects including visiting a convention in the U.S. Go give it a listen.

For the people that don’t know you, tell us a little about yourself and your background?

You just released a new book set in the same universe as Way of the Shaman, the Barliona Universe, Called Invasion. Tell me a little about it.

Does this story tie into the Way of the Shaman or are there any easter eggs?

I personally noted the character, Eredani, is on the prisoner program that hides his real identity but he’s actually a veteran player who knows about the Crafting skill exploit. Is he someone famous from the Way of the Shaman series?

OMG. He actually answers this question before I even get a chance to ask it!

Give us an insight into your main character, Brody West aka Kvalen. What does he do that is so special?

In personal news, I finally finished writing and editing the 2nd book in the Project Alpha series. I think it’s a really good story that expands on the real life RPG setting established in the 1st book. Good action filled dungeon dives with a variety of themes, neat RPG powers, and some character development thanks to my editors.
