Setup more like Monster Hunter set in the modern world with a calamity happening 10 years in the past and monsters appearing along with people being awakened to get powers to fight them. Like Solo Leveling, the main character (MC) is a low level helper who risks his life being bait to help pay for his mother’s medical bills. Where the story shifts is once the MC is injured and recalls that he had a past life that gives him over powered magical abilities, and he becomes one of the awakened and is able to level up by earning XP from killing monsters.
On the story side of things it was just fun to see the MC start out as a regular person risking his life to help his family and then transition to increasingly powerful roles as he used his vast magic knowledge from his last life to play support roles then as the main action monster killer. It was interesting to see the combination of magic and technology as the MCs powers developed. I’ll admit that the story feels pretty relaxed and slice-of-life once the MC heals his mom without any real goal but there’s a big emphasis on action.
On the RPG side of things, it's a mixture of magic that’s translated by the system into levels, XP, and skills like magical repair and spells. There’s also a MMO type style to the fights with one person grabbing aggro, tanks, damage dealers, and support and hearlers.
Art: The art is good. It transitions a bit from the start to the most recent release, but it still brings the action through.
