The Land of Diarrhea Online: A LitRPG Parody of GameLit

A Bunch of LitRPG Authors Get Trapped in an RPG!

Or are they in a real world with RPG mechanics? GameLit or LitRPG?

When some of the most famous writers in the LitRPG genre get trapped in an MMORPG at GryphonCon 2021, arguments are bound to happen. Can they remember all the tropes and avoid all the traps while learning to work together? Will they discover who is behind their imprisonment before it’s too late?

Take a peek inside to see if you might like to go along with me on this wild ride through the meta side of the genre we all love. This novel is for authors (with all my respect) and readers (with all my love). See how many Easter Eggs you can find! Sorry, no DeLorean prize…

DISCLAIMER: This is a work of satirical fiction! Names, characters, places, and incidents are the products of the author's imagination or are used fictitiously as parody. Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental and meant as parody of an alternate universe.

What did I just read?

Trying to match up authors and characters in the book was an interesting puzzle. I was a bit amused to find that I had a no dialogue cameo. Rambling and a bit rushed, the biggest puzzle of the book was trying to guess the identity of the author. Seeing Orson Scott Card and Ernst Cline doing a Bill and Ted act was funny. I think my favorite was the diarrhea curse Allen King suffered from. Probably more fun for people who follow the online squabbles of the various authors regarding the future of LitRPG and GameLit.

Score: 7.4 out of 10.
